Having designed and built this clients previous garden, it was a pleasure to be instructed again to remodel gardens front and back in this prestigious location. A straight forward brief was provided, to impress and enlarge. Beautifully designed interiors needed to be complemented with contemporary gardens grand enough for the house.
The demolition of a large garage in the rear garden gave scope to fulfil the clients need for space for their children. The fifties style stone walls surrounding the terrace although structurally sound needed bringing up to date. Smart new render and construction of a new staircase transformed their appeal, pale sandstone was laid in large flags to the terrace to create a wonderful entertaining space.
In the front garden, heavy and untidy trees and shrubs were cleared to create two formal lawns around a sweeping driveway. Each lawn has a feature which stands on a ‘plinth’ of clipped Box hedging affording interest from every aspect. Modern herbaceous borders flank the front elevations with interest throughout the seasons, mass planted Agapanthus border the new entrance. At night beautiful lighting marks the York stone drive and highlights the impressive planting.
